Dasavatharam still making good collections

Ulaga nayagan Kamal Hassan is happy now a days. There are two reasons for his happiness. The first one is the collections of Dasavatharam. .Kamal Haasan’s ‘Dasavatharam’ is still on making waves at the box office garnering good collections.

The big-budgeted movie, produced by Oscar Ravichandran and directed by K S Ravikumar, has entered the third week and is still drawing packed houses. Released in over a dozen screens in Chennai, the movie features Kamal Haasan in ten different roles. ‘Dasavatharam’ surely is still the talk of the town.

The movie is doing well in multiplexes and has managed healthy collections in urban centers.

Vijay’s ‘Kuruvi’ is not far-behind.Jayam Ravi’s ‘Santosh Subramaniam’, which completed its 50-day run, is also in the race. The Tamil remake of a blockbuster Telugu version, has struck a chord with family audiences. The peppy songs and the neat performance by Genelia have helped its cause.

In rural centers, Larencce Ragavendra’s ‘Pandi’ is putting up a very good show.Meanwhile a couple of new-releases last week-end - ‘Ayudham Seivom’ starring Sundar C and Parthiban’s ‘Vallamai Tharayo’ have opened well.

Ranbir Kapoor with 3 heroines

That Ranbir Kapoor gets to romance three lovely ladies in director Siddhartha Anand’s ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ is a stale one now. The latest addition is that the deadly trio together with Ranbir has shot a promotional number for the movie.

Choreographed by Ahmed Khan, the number has Ranbir jiving with the three ladies of the film - Deepika Padukone, Minissha Lamba and Bipasha Basu. To be known here that the three ladies are not sharing the share screen space in the film but are appearing together only in this promotional track.

The song has been composed by Vishal-Shekhar and has interesting facts related to it. The song uses the original opening lines of the famous song “Bachna Ae Haseeno” from Rishi Kapoor’s film ‘Hum Kissi Se Kam Nahin’. Where Kishore Kumar had sung the original one for Rishi Kapoor in 1977, Kishoreda’s son Sumeet has sung the song with similar title for Rishi Kapoor’s son Ranbir Kapoor in this movie.

At first, Ranbir was supposed to sing this song but the idea was dropped later. Hope the father’s song does wonders for son’s film.

Madhavan loss his weight

Raj Kumar Hirani, who turned Sanjay Dutt into a medical student in Munnabhai MBBS is now ready to turn Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi into engineering students in his upcoming film, Idiot.

The three guys play IIT students, and the film is about the rapport they share as friends.Madhavan has already begun losing weight to play a student. He has lost a lot of weight, but apparently it is not enough. He is required to look lean in the film.

So the actor has packed his bags and left for the Swiss Health Resort. He admits that he has been asked to sport a trim look in Idiot. “Yes, Raj Kumar Hirani has asked me to lose weight.I have already shed 15 kilos. I am now much lighter compared to what I weighed earlier. But I’m supposed to be lean and sinewy,” Madhavan says.

While playing a 20-something pilot in Rang De Basanti, Madhavan had not faced problems as there were no drastic changes in weight or appearance.“Yes,” confirms Madhavan, “I simply had to appear fit in Rang De Basanti. But this role requires me to alter my look and appear convincing as a college student.”

Bollywood hot siren Bipasha Basu, who stars in a Bengali movie, Sab Charita Kalpunik, is under troubles because of the placements of logos. The movie was to have reliance logo flashing as the movie started, but the director, Rituparno Ghosh had other views about the logo’s placement, which ignited a conflict between the company and the director.

“While Reliance wanted their logo to be flashed on the screen with the first shot of the film, Rituparno is of the opinion that it would be more aesthetic to have the logo just before the narration begins,”says a source.

Upen teaming up with Ranbir and Katrina

Actor Upen Patel is quite upbeat about teaming up with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in Rajkumar Santoshi’s next film “Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani”, even though he doesn’t play the lead role.So what is he doing in a movie that has Ranbir playing the hero?”It is the love story of Ranbir and Katrina, no two ways about it,” admits Upen. “But I don’t have a flimsy part at all … No way. I’ve 40 days of work in the film. I come into the plot like Salman (Khan) in ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’,” he said.

“But my main reason for doing the film was of course Raj Santoshi. When he offered me a role I felt ten-feet tall. When I heard the script, I fell in love with my character. No way was I going to miss the chance of being in this film just because another actor had the lead.”

Upen refused to say anything more about the movie because he is under a strict contract not to reveal any details of the plot.

“But the biggest compliment I got was when Rajji said he was making a comedy after 14 years. And if Ranbir is like Aamir (Khan) in ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, I’m like Salman in that film. The faith that he has shown in me is precious. I’m working hard to live up to his faith,” the actor said.

Upen, who worked with Katrina in “Namaste London”, is pretty sure that the lovely actress would prove lucky for him. “Katrina and I were in ‘Namaste London’ together. And look where that film took her,” he remarked.“We’re both Londoners, remember? We were both raw and new when we did ‘Namaste London’. Look how lucky she is for her movies. Hope she proves lucky for me as well,” said Upen.

Shruti Haasan recommended by Aamir Khan

Kamal Hassan’s daughter Shruti Hassan, was anticipated to make her Kollywood debut as a co-star for Madhavan. But the project got shelved and there was no further news about her film entry. Bipasha Basu busy these days because the actress is getting herself a new home. She will reconstruct the entire top floor of her current residence Muktangan on Sarojini Road in Khar.

Said Bipsha, “After I finish shooting for my film, I will take a break to build my home just the way I always wanted it to be. It will be my birthday gift to myself.”While Bips is designing her pad, she plans to collect home accessories including wood, tiles, furnishing and upholstery from various parts of the world.An excited Bipasha added, “When I travel to shop for things for my new house, my parents who live close by, will look after the construction.”

Bips tells us that she will move in with her parents while her place is being re-constructed.But why break down an old house and re-build it? Bips said, “I love the space that I live in and wouldn’t leave it for anything. I agree there’s nothing wrong with my place but I simply want to give it the personal touches that I always wanted for my home. I couldn’t do it during its construction so I plan to do it now.”

When quizzed about her impulsive decision to re-construct the place in the monsoons, Bipasha quipped, “I’m adventurous about everything I do but I’ve set a deadline for all the construction guys and designers to finish the job. It’s on my birthday, January 7.”

Asin on the cover of Vogue Magazine

Vogue, the leading international fashion magazine launched its Indian edition in September 2007 and has been a hit with the fashion conscious women across the country. Now Asin has adorned the magazine’s glossy cover in its 10th issue. She was in the city to unveil the July issue at Landmark, Spencers. Looking suave and chic in a dark green and black spaghetti dress, Asin was confidence personified. Bollywood seems to suit this gorgeous girl from Malabar who said that she is very happy to be featured in the cover of Vogue. “I feel on top of the world”, the actress said. She becomes the first South Indian actor to appear on Vogue.

An excited Asin said, ’the shoot with Vogue was really exciting. This was the very first time I shot with a fashion magazine and I had loads of fun. The clothes are simply amazing. Especially the pink dress by Valentino….that was my favorite’.

She also added that most actors don’t like posing for still photography, but she had a whale of a time. ’I felt very comfortable and I enjoyed the clothes’.

Asin is debuting in Hindi with Aamir Khan’s ’Ghajini’ - the remake of a Tamil film with the same name. She is probably the luckiest actress today especially with her exquisite photographs in Vogue magazine as a prelude to the movie’s release.

An ecstatic Asin launched the July issue of Vogue at Landmark in Spencer Plaza in Chennai recently.

Asin in bollywood

Kollywood beauty Queen Asin is set to storm Hindi films with Ghajini opposite Aamir Khan after conquering Telugu and Tamil cinema. Ask her if she is set to become next big Bollywood’s diva from the South, and the actress giggles in embarrassment, “I’m a long way from getting anywhere near Hema, Rekha and Sridevi. But I feel hugely welcome in Mumbai. I don’t know why filmmakers are showing so much interest in me.” Asin (pronounced Ah-sin) she explains her name: “Asin is coined from Sanskrit and English. It means ‘sinless’... like ‘Amala’… without blemish. I hope I live up to my name in Mumbai.”

For now, Mumbai is her home. “But only because my immediate commitments are in Mumbai,” she clarifies. “I’m the brand ambassador for six multi-national companies and the ads need to be shot in Mumbai. Now there are Hindi films too. ”Fortunately, Asin speaks Hindi without that Southern twang that is even now so pronounced in Hema. “I’ve never used a dubbing artiste for any of my films, not even for the Hindi ads, and I’m speaking in my own voice in my first Hindi film Ghajini,” she claims. “In these days of globalisation, I don’t think language is a barrier. I’m interested in films in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and any other language as long as the projects are exciting.”

She’s aware her shift to Mumbai has given rise to rumours that she’s giving up on South Indian cinema. “That’s untrue,” says Asin defensively. “Whatever I’m today is because of Tamil and Telegu cinema. Why am I expected to choose between Mumbai and the South?”

Lara replaces Tabu

Director Priyadarshan admits he had written the female lead of his forthcoming "Billo Barber" with favourite actress Tabu in mind but had to settle for Lara Dutta instead due to date problems.
Priyadarshan and Tabu have done great work together in films like "Viraasat" and "Kala Pani". The versatile actress even agreed to do an inconsequential role in "Hera Pheri" only for Priyadarshan’s sake.

"Billo Barber" is being produced by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Priyadarshan wanted Tabu to star in it. But after she opted out, Lara bagged the role.Said Priyadarshan: "It’s a role of a full-on firebrand village girl. And it’s patterned on Tabu’s role in my ’Viraasat’. I’ve to admit I think of Tabu for every female lead. But Lara is sensitive and strong enough to carry this role off with élan."

He said that Lara plays the wife of a barber, portrayed by Irrfan Khan."Though the character belongs to a higher caste, she defies social norms and the diktats of the village to marry a barber. Lara’s sophisticated image hasn’t come in the way of her performance at all. She’ll shock you," said Priyadarshan.

Shah Rukh also stars in "Billo Barber", but not opposite Lara.Said a source close to the project: "There was a certain amount of reservation about the part when Lara heard it was opposite Irrfan. Lara is extremely conscious of her co-stars’ status. Earlier she had refused Anil Kapoor’s ’Short Cut’ with Arshad Warsi.

"But the temptation of being in the same film with Shah Rukh prevailed. She had never been in any film with him and he’s producing ’Billo Barbar’. She sees this as stepping stone to a film with Shah Rukh.". And very soon she got a full-fledged role in "Jhoom Baraabar Jhoom" with the illustrious banner.

Ever since she landed in Mumbai, she has been staying with her mother in a rented flat and facing residential problem. Aamir is too concerned about the well being of his co-stars and artists and finding Jiah in trouble, he lined her up with an estate agent and finally Jiah managed to get a new flat.

Aishwarya Rai suffering from a viral infection

Aishwarya Rai, the apple of the nation’s eye, is suffering from German measles (Rubella infection), a viral infection characterized by fever, swollen and painful lymph nodes, and a runny nose.

Aishwarya Rai’s manager Hari Singh has said that she will not be available for about 10 to 15 days for any promo or shooting as she is suffering from a bout of fever and is advised total rest. He confirmed that Aishwarya Rai has signed Robot and another production by Mani Ratnam, and also that she will be given a 2-month break from Shankar’s Robot when filming for Mani Ratnam’s film commences.

Rakhi and Kashmira having negative vibes

Bipasha Basu and her italy experiance

Bipasha Basu has always had a soft spot for Italy. While she had holidayed there in the past, recently she was there for the shoot of Bachna Ae Haseeno. Bipasha,who is currently shooting for an ad, talks about her Italian eperience, "Rome and Capri are beautiful cities. Last time, I was here on holiday, this time it was for work. Both were trips to remember. I had so much fun we visited the Vatican, Cherry Fountain, the Lion Fountain at Piazza Del Poppolo, the Colloseum in Rome and many other places."

A shopaholic Bipasha who loves picking up outfits and accessories wherever she goes didn’t do much shopping in Italy this time. She says, "I shopped very little. Apart from the fact that Rome is extremely expensive, I have been going easy on what I call my ’fizul kharcha’.

I will be doing up my flat from September and am saving every penny for that. I was to design it last year but then I got busy with my commitments."

Apart from that, Bipasha finds the people of Rome friendly and approachable, "The people are wonderful and warm. And they dress impeccably. Italians are very fashion conscious. You won’t find any badly dressed Italians on the streets."

Bipasha is also a big fan of the Italian cooking, "Nothing beats pizza, pasta and sea food in Italian cuisine. Their fish and shrimps are fantastic. Of course, I had an interesting experience too. I had to go in for a root canal and was extremely apprehensive about doing it in Rome. I didn’t know the doctor there and he didn’t understand a word of English but the operation went off well. He was one of the best dentists of Rome."

Bachna Ae Haseeno also stars Ranbir Kapoor, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone and is directed by Siddharth Anand. The film is about a young flirtatious man who carries out his romance with different women till he meets the one he falls in love with.

Preity Zinta wants some challenging work

Bollywood cute smiling actress Preity Zinta said her preoccupation with Indian Premier League (IPL) earlier and now the `Unforgettables` world concert did not mean that she has put her film career on the backburner.

"I have four back-to-back releases this year starting with Jahanu Barua`s `Har Pal` with Dharmendra and Shiney Ahuja, `Heroes` with Salman Khan, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, `The Last Lear` with Amitabh Bachchan, Arjun Rampal and Shefali Shah and Deepa Mehta`s `Heaven on Earth`," Preity Zinta said.

The actress said she was presently dubbing for `Har Pal` and shooting for `Main Aur Mrs Khanna`. However, she declined to divulge any details of the films. She said her forthcoming releases are a natural progression for her from a mainstream commercial film actor to doing meaty roles with substance.

`Har Pal` has the original screenplay and is an out-to-out commercial film which is high on emotions. `The Last Lear` will see her playing an upcoming actress while in `Heaven on Earth` she plays a battered housewife. She said she had reached a stagnation point with the films she was doing. "I was going through the same grind and naturally wanted some challenging work. When you grow older, you need more substance. I am fortunate that when i yearned for a change, it came from all sides," she added.

"The NRI bracket associated with my films because all of them were shot abroad, was killing me. Hence, I decided to go desi in my forthcoming films," she added. Preity pointed out that she never had a glamorous image in films.

Well, she not just does the job from behind the scenes but also comes in front of the camera to do a jig on the dance floor. A new age club song, the song has Hard Kaur coming up with her English-Punjabi rendition, which sets the platform for a fun outing. This is not all as Mika Singh joins soon along with Anmol Malik, Anu’s daughter, and together they have total ’dhamaal’ in the offering.

The song marks Hardkaur’s yet another stint in a video for the film after ’Move Your Body’ from Johnny Gaddaar last year. However, the difference here is that while the track from Johnny Gaddaar was only for the promotional purpose, ’Main Talli Ho Gayi’ features in it’s entirety in the film.With Mallika and Hard Kaur sharing a common platform, the stage would catch fire!

Neetu Chandra planned for big party

Neetu Chandra has taken a flight from Mumbai to Patna because it’s her parent’s wedding anniversary today and also a big party that their daughter has planned for them.

Neetu says ,"I love my parents and they are the best that anyone could get", gushes Neetu whose Traffic Signal was recently honoured with the National Award, "They have always supported me from childhood and have never questioned any of my decisions. Whether it was my inclination towards sports or later films, they were always there for me and encouraged me to live my dream. They stood behind me and gave all the support that I required."

How did she come up with a surprise party plan for her parents’ wedding anniversary?
"Since the time I have settled down in Mumbai, I get to visit Patna only once a year. This time around I planned to coincide my visit with their wedding anniversary. They have done so much for me and I love them to death. I thought that what better gift could there be than throw a party for them", reveals Neetu who has as many as 4-5 films lined up for release in the remainder of the year.

Has she intimated her friends and family about the mega event that she has planned?
"It is going to be a ’mela’ out there and I along with my two brothers who are flying to Patna can hardly conceal our excitement", says a visibly delighted Neetu, "The guest list reads around 200 people and we have made a huge arrangement in this 5 star Hotel in Patna. My parents have completed 26 years of sheer bliss and I pray that they continue together for many more decades to come!"

De Taali is a light hearted comedy portraying the essence of friendship among its three main characters played by Ayesha, Aftab and Ritesh Deshmukh. It is about the relationship that grows deeper with every thick and thin situation. According to Ayesha, while playing the perfect tomboy in the film, she almost forgot what it was like to be a lady. Aftab, on the other hand seemed to have enjoyed his lover boy image in the film as he got to wear his heart on his sleeve and make girls drool over him. Overall, the characters are very factual, ones that audiences will relate to very well.

Apart from the reel bonding, a real friendship also seemed to bloom among the trio. They openly spoke about the pranks and memorable moments on the sets that made the experience unforgettable. Exuberant Ayesha is on the edge of her seat, looking forward to the release. But whatever the outcome of the film, she won’t have any regrets as she’s added two amazing actors to her list of friends!

Amir Khan smoking again

Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has confessed to the fact that due to stress he has once again given in to the temptation of smoking. He says his nephew Imraan’s launch pad "Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na" is the reason behind the stress.Releasing July 4, the film is being produced by Aamir.

"I’ve begun smoking again, I know you guys are going to kick the shit out of me, my family is already doing that," he wrote on his blog www.aamirkhan.com."I get really stressed when any of my films is about to release, I know the music is doing really well and most of you will tell me there is nothing to worry about, but it doesn’t work like that. Bear with me folks, I’ll give up once ’Jaane Tu...’ releases," he added.

Aamir also said that smoking has also been the reason behind his not posting on the blog."I didn’t know how to face all of you. I did want to write about something interesting, but I had broken my promise to you all so, I did not know how to get around that -- and then I would just shut my computer."So I thought let me start by coming clean, and expose my human frailties," he added.However, Aamir doesn’t smoke in front of kids and in the presence of people who get disturbed with it.

"Ninaithale Iinikkum" will be remade in Hindi

A superhit film in the early 80s like "Ninaithale Iinikkum" will be remade in Hindi. It is said that Udhayabanu Maheshwaran will direct this film and K. Balachander’s Kavithalaya will produce it. It is to be noted that K. Balachander directed the original version.

Ninaithale Inikkum was a film which starred the icons of Kollywood, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, and it was about a music band and its members. The film was full of youth and fervour. It set a new trend in Kollywood and served as an inspiration to a lot of films that followed.

Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan will be featuring in a movie titled ’London Dreams’ soon. The film is to be produced by Vipul Shah. The interesting piece of news is that South Indian sensation Asin might be roped into the project.

Says Vipul Shah, ’I met Asin a couple of times and I admit I am seriously considering her for my film’. He went on to add, ’as of today, nothing is final’. Asin has already been successful in garnering nationwide interest. She is currently working with Aamir Khan for the Hindi version of the super hit Tamil film ’Ghajini’. Her role in ’Dasavatharam’ with Kamal Haasan has started fetching accolades from audiences.

Dasavatharam world wide Collections

The performance of Dasavatharam is very impressive not only in the domestic market but also in the overseas segment. As per the Malaysian Box office collections report for the period June 12 to 15, the films stands in second position having grossed $601,307, being screened at 58 theatres. At the first position is ‘The Incredible Hulk’.

In the United Kingdom, where generally Bollywood films rule the roost, Dasavatharam stands at 11th position having piped Ram Gopal Verma’s Sarkar Raj to 16th place in the period June13th to June 15th. The film has grossed $ 246,677. Though the film is being screened at a few theatres, it is reported to be doing well in terms of percentage collections.

Abhishek, Vivek in a flim

Bollywood Beauty Aishwarya rai’s hubby Abhishek and her ex beau Vivek Oberoi are going to act together in a same movie.Two separate songs will be filmed, almost simultaneously, on Abhishek Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi at different locations of Mumbai (Abhishek makes a special appearance in the movie). That’s one of the reasons why the release has been pushed ahead by two weeks.

"We need time to promote these songs. Besides, I don’t want to hurry up on its post-production," director Apoorva Lakhia confirms. That justifies the shift in its release date, from July 11 to July 25… With Mission Istaanbul getting shifted to July 25, EMI, starring Sanjay Dutt, will be shifted ahead as well [it was confirmed for July 25]. Shamita Shetty and her comedy movie Hari Puttar

The gorgeous Shamita Shetty made her debut in Bollywood with Yash Raj Films’ Mohabbatein. Though her career graph as an actress has not been too fascinating since, Shamita has impressed audiences with her item numbers-she will be seen doing the same in Hari Puttar-A Comedy Of Terrors. Excerpts from an interview where she spoke about Hari Puttar, her sister and her upcoming films.

She says about the song in the movie Hari Puttar, "This is a fun, peppy Punjabi number, a very groovy dance number.Well, the producer of the film is a very dear friend of mine. He came to me with the concept. He was very organised-with the entire concept of the song-and he even showed me a mock video. I loved it and I also loved the song. It’s really good and will be a hit. The experience was really good. I enjoyed myself a lot. It’s not a hard-core choreographed song so we were not under any kind of pressure and so enjoyed our selves a lot."

Shamita says about how a promotional song help a film, "I think the promotional song concept is really in right now and even big banners include one these days. I think such songs do help in leveraging the film. So, this song will be called an item number. I don’t understand the definition of an item number and how people tag a particular song as an item song. All I know is that this is a special song in the film, which I am glad to do.

And she tells her chemistry with the kid in the movie "[Laughs] Well, the chemistry was good. Zain is a really good dancer and he is not camera shy. In fact, he’s dynamite when the cameras are rolling. I am not working with him in the film, but from what I saw he is a great performer.

And she tells us about her future projects," Well, I wish I could sit here and predict my future and tell you when I am coming in which film, but frankly I don’t have any thing right now in my hands. I’m waiting for a nice and exciting script. We have heard that you opening your own production house. Yes, we are coming out with our own production house… probably next year. So right now I am concentrating more on it.Shamita also says about her sister Shilpa,"I think Shilpa deserves every bit of success that she has gained and I am very happy for her. And no, she is not getting married. We will definitely let you know when she plans it."

Kangana Ranaut now in kollywood

Bollywood girl Kangana Ranaut beauty and sizzling bod is her trump card. Kangana Ranaut known for her roles in Gangster, Life In A Metro, Woh Lamhe etc. has also done films she particularly won’t be flaunting loudly in her filmography. Aishwarya Rai responses to Abhishek's critic

Aishwarya Rai has responded to a critic who called Abhishek Bachchan ’s character in Sarkar Raj as “an emotional fool”.A comment was left on director Ram Gopal Varma ’s blog that apparently rattled the otherwise composed Bachchan bahu. A critical reader had commented this on the blog after watching Sarkar Raj: “Shankar looks like an emotional fool when he opens his heart to a girl from America whom he met yesterday?”

To this remark, Ramu gave a tongue-in-cheek reply: “Maybe he has a weakness for worldly beauties.”But Aishwarya Rai seemed in a mood to take on the questioner and make him understand the subtle chemistry between Shankar and Anita in the film.

Ash replied thus: “When you have two people ‘confide’ in each other, it’s such a personal experience, it underlines a deep connection between the two on various levels…Given the realistic space in which the characters express themselves which is very much clear in the language of the film (Realistic in acting, dialogue, camera etc.) we chose CONFIDING IN as hugely intimate an experience to convey this deep connection, rather than ‘fans blowing hair and clothes, background aalaaps or song, round trolley movements, or rain out of nowhere and waltzing etc’ to convey this. It’s all in the Eyes of the Characters and in the intense intimacy of confiding! That’s SARKAR RAJ!”

Gauging Aishwarya’s reply, how we wish she begins to blog regularly. As for the critic, we suspect that most of what Ash said must have gone over his head.

Amitabh and Shahrukh cold war continues..

The war between Bollywood biggies seems to be getting dirtier day by day. Now, the gossip columns have more of heroes getting into fights and controversial statements. The cold war between Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan has deep roots attached to it. The latest addition to this is from Shahrukh Khan. It so happened that director Aditya Chopra had planned an 11 minute song for his forthcoming ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’. The song sung by Sonu Nigam will pay a tribute to the top Bollywood actors since 1950, showcasing some of their most memorable numbers.

Shahrukh was supposed to mimic all these actors in the song, but though SRK went down well with Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor, and Rajesh Khanna, he refused to dance to Amitabh Bachchan’s songs. He reasoned that media will unnecessarily create controversies with his dancing to Big B’s numbers and that won’t be in the favor of the film. So adamant was SRK with his point Aditya was then forced to remove the Amitabh Bachchan segments, replacing them with Rishi Kapoor.

Kajol in Karan Johar's film with Shahrukh’s wife

Kajol has finally agreed to do Karan Johar’s next titled "My Name Is Khan" and feature as Shah Rukh Khan’s wife in the film about an Indian couple living in the US.Kajol says yes to Karan Johar’s film, plays Shah Rukh’s wife. Bollywood’s hottest on-screen couple is back after seven years.

The two were last seen as couple in Karan’s 2001 family saga "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham".When the media reported the news of her being considered for the role in "My Name Is Khan" early last month, the straightforward actress had retorted by saying that without reading the script she would not give consent to work in a movie even made by her husband, leave alone Karan Johar or anybody else.

According to a source close to the production house, soon after that she went on a holiday with her family and there was a lull on "My Name Is Khan" front. Now it is learnt that she has given the green signal to the movie to be directed by Karan.Though the movie is scheduled to be launched in December, a buzz has already started that Karan has a winner in his. Not only because it has a hit pair heading the cast, but also because the composer trio, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, has scored some "outstanding" tunes for the movie.

Those who have heard some of the tunes composed with dummy lyrics say that one of the highlights of "My Name Is Khan" will certainly be its music, as it always is in a Karan Johar production.The launch of "My Name is Khan" has been deferred till December because at present Karan is busy with Dharma Productions’ other movies, including Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and John Abraham starrer "Dostana". The film is due for release later this year.

Akshay, Kareena with Sylvester Stallone

Bollywood stunt hero Akshay Kumar and ravishing Kareena Kapoor will get an opportunity to act with Rambo and Rocky legend Sylvester Stallone. Another important element attached with it is that first time in the history of Indian Cinema a Bollywood film will be shot almost entirely inside Hollywood’s grand Universal Studios. The film titled Kambakkht Ishq.

The film will be produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and he has been helped by Susan Paley Abranson and Justine Hempe, the casting directors of Entourage to get Sylvester for Kambakkht Ishq. When asked, Sajid remaked, "Yes, I have signed Sylvester Stallone. Since Kambakkth Ishq is based in Hollywood, it made sense to cast mainstream American stars in it. This film is one of my most ambitious ventures and I didn’t want to leave any stone unturned." The film will be produced with a budget of 90 crore.

Sajid’s latest hit is Heyy Babyy directed by Sajid Khan and this time he has appointed debutant director Sabir Khan for this much hyped film and he expressed his feeling in the following words, "It’s an exciting merger of Hollywood and Indian cinema. I couldn’t ask for more. Kambakkht Ishq will truly be India’s first international film."

I can most certainly play the game convincingly now, though not as good as professionals yet,” Rani is quoted.The movie, to be directed by newcomer Anurag Singh, has Rani pairing with Shahid Kapoor . It also has hottie Sherlyn Chopra in a small but important role.

Even as Rani prepares herself for this film, she is awaiting to see the audience response to Kunal Kohli’s film Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic in which she plays an angel.In doing this role, Rani had to do several difficult stunts (like flying in the air) with the use of cablework techniques.“It required a lot of physical strength to assume the correct ’flying’ posture on the harness,” the actress told the agency. ‘Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic’ is set to release on June 27.

But now he’ll be recreating the Fashion Week in Paris during the season of he event.Says Madhur, "We’re working out a deal with the French government. We’ll show Priyanka Chopra walking the ramp, of course. But we won’t shoot the Fashion Week. We’ll put up a set in Paris. It would be 4-5 days of shooting.

We want to capture Priyanka framed against the Eiffel Tower and also show her walking the ramp in Paris as a super-model. And we’ll also have a bit of footage from the real Fashion Week."Madhur’s next project Jail, a gritty hardhitting film on a prison escape will again have to be done on a set. Madhur wanted to shoot it in a real prison.

"But too many practical problems. Jail will be situated in a prison. It’ll be in the thriller format. I’ve the subject right from the time I made Chandni Bar. Now I’ve completely revamped the film."

Sherlyn Chopra is coming back

Bollywood girl Sherlyn Chopra is back with yet another album called Dard-e-Sherlyn . The last album that she did was called Outrageous which was directed by adman Prahlad Kakkar.

Speaking about the album, an outspoken Sherlyn said, “The album it about my butt. It has just a single song called Dard-e-Sherlyn and it’s a remix version.” So does the album contain only two songs? “T-Series says that singles do not actually work in India. So they are going to make a compilation of some hit tracks of their hit films. It will have Dard-e-disco from Om Shanti Om and Mauja hi mauja from Jab We Met.”

The video is being directed and choreographed by Remo Dsouza. Sherlyn will be seen in different avatars in the video. In one she will be a Moulin Rouge performer while in another she will be a typical Bollywood item girl with all the associated item girl moves. She will be seen wearing a diamond encrusted bikini. The album will be out in the last week of June. “The countdown has begun and there are just a few days to go. Then the whole nation will come to know what dard I am talking about”, said an excited Sherlyn while signing off.

Shahid and Vishal have known each other from Ishq Vishk days

While shooting in Toronto at the community centre location, Vishal Malhotra (who is playing Shahid’s friend) thought his shoot for the day was done and he left for the hotel which was about a ten minutes distance from location.

Just then Aziz Mirza decided that he wanted to shoot one more angle and called for Vishal. However, he was informed that he had left. Shahid called up Vishal and asked him to come back. He also told him that the shooting has stopped and both Ramesh Taurani and Aziz Mirza were very upset that he had left the set. He told everyone to play along with this.

So when Vishal literally ran back to the location he first met Vidya who cordially just greeted him, hence making him even more nervous. Then Shahid took him aside and building up the tension told him that this was not done and now he was in trouble.

As poor Vishal came onto the set, everyone just gave him stern looks. He was so scared and kept apologizing but Rameshji gave the joke away when he could not control his laughter and Vishal realized that everyone was pulling his leg. "I can’t believe that I actually fell for it. They all held up well. Thank God for Rameshji who gave the joke away. I was so very nervous. Shahid and i have known each other from Ishq Vishk days and we keep pulling these wise ones on others but I never expected him to pull this one on me. Look out Shahid, I owe you one," he says jokingly.

Prabhu Deva directing hindi movie

Kollywood Michel Jackson Prabhu Deva is going to direct a action thriller Hindi film produced by Boney Kapoor.And this a first hindi movie for Prabhu Deva. Salman Khan and Ayesha Takia are in the lead role and the film is expected to release in the end of year 2008. The film is the remake of Tamil hit film ’Pokkri’.

Ayesha Takia, who shares the screen space with Salman Khan, says that ’Wanted’ is a Bonney Kapoor film and Prabu’s first directorial venture in Hindi. Lots of dancing are there and is a remake of a Tamil film.

And grooving to Prabhu’s tunes was no mean feat for both Salman and Ayesha, as she said, "He has made the film before in Tamil and wants to see exactly that way. I usually don’t do things planned. But he wants me to do things as same as in the other film. So it’s different experience for me because I never worked like that. But I am sure that it will be great learning. He is very phenomenal and of course I am going crazy about dancing scenes because we never knew that there were that some much moments in one beat. But he thinks it is so easy and we want to manage.”

Sharing screen space with Salman for the very first time, Ayesha says, “I think he is a phenomenal person and really chilled out at work who has no issues and very patient and calm. It’s really nice to work with actors like him who make comfortable for people who are their juniors.”

No help from pakistan

The family of slain Pakistani leader Benazir Bhutto has said that it would not give any help to an Indian production house planning to produce a film on her but acknowledged that it cannot stop anyone from producing a movie.

In the backdrop of reports that a Mumbai-based production house was producing the film in which Aishwarya Rai may play Benazir’s role, a lawyer for her husband Asif Ali Zardari said today that the family would not provide any help for the project.

The lawyer, Ashish Mehta, said that a documentary on the life of Benazir who was assassinated in Rawalpindi in December last year was currently being made by a US production house. A spokesman for her Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Farhatullah Babar said that the documentary has been okayed by Benazir herself during her lifetime.

"...As far as we are concerned, this is the only official documentary that we are currently assisting in production," Babar told reporters. "We cannot, however, stop anyone from going ahead and making a film, but this will definitely not receive any support from us," he said. Babar also said that two other international production houses had approached the family with similar proposals, but they too had been rejected.

Noted Indian filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt had also announced a film Benazir and had approached the family in January this year. "After we objected to the film, he was cooperative and said he wouldn’t make the movie until he gets the consent of the family," Mehta said.

Ranbir Kapoor and Konkona Sen Sharma a total mismatch, but tis a fact that the duo has been finalized for a film to be produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Production. Apparently, both Ranbir and Konkona liked the script a lot and immediately gave their affirmative nod to it.

The film is about the union of a Punjabi heir-apparent and the Bengali bohemian. The movie will be directed by Ayaan Mukherjee who’s a cousin of Kajol. Ayaan has already assisted Ashutosh Gowariker in ‘Swades’ and Karan Johar in ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’.

Talking about Ranbir and Konkona being a far fetched match, a source says, “That’s exactly the point. In this Mumbai-based romance about urban relationships, the director needed a pair that seems incompatible. The film is about seeking a level of compatibility in a world gone distinctly out of control.”

Harman and Priyanka against each other

If Bollywood producers have their way, they may soon be pitting two love birds Harman Baweja and Priyanka Chopra against each other who may be a couple off screen but may have to battle it out at the box office in a few months from now.

While Love Story 2050 would see the two coming together on 4th July, a couple of their independent films may actually be clashing at the box office, hence turning into an embarrassing situation for the couple. To top it all, none of the two films are pushovers and have big names associated with them.

We are talking about Fashion and Victory - both of which have been confirmed for a 14th November release. Priyanka Chopra plays the central protagonist in Fashion while Harman is the lead in Victory. While the release plans for Fashion were declared quite some time back, it is Victory which has very recently joined the fray.

Fashion is a high profile project that has 3 times National Award winner Madhur Bhandarkar at its helm. On the other hand Victory is directed by first time director Ajit Pal. Incidentally; both the films explore different genres. While Madhur Bhandarkar takes his audience into the underbelly of the Fashion industry in Fashion, Victory talks about the journey of a small town boy who grows on to be an international cricketer.

Kamal Haasan's 'Dasavatharam' has had a fabulous opening

The magnum opus of Kamal Haasan’s ’Dasavatharam’ has had a fabulous opening in Karnataka, especially in Bangalore. Rejoicing crowds and a mad rush for tickets was seen at many Bangalore theatres right from Thursday, a day prior to the release.

In Bangalore alone 22 theatres screened ’Dasavatharam’ in prominent theatres. TheTamil and Telugu versions of ’Dasavatharam’ were released.In Kerala too the theatres are full .Cheers and whistles erupted from the audience during that scene.

According to reliable sources the film ’Dasavatharam’ is sold to Karnataka region for Rs.2 crores. The Kamal Haasan Fans Association arranged for a special screening of the film a day prior to the release on 13th June 2008.There was a traffic jam next to the busy Cauvery theatre with the influx of huge crowds and police had to deploy extra forces.Kamal Haasan fans at Cauvery theatres did ’Chocolate’ abisekha to the cut outs erected pouring the chocolates wrapped in the small covers.

Hollywood entering into bollywood

Bollywood filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala has signed Sylvester Stallone for his next flick "Kambakkht Ishq" in which the Hollywood icon will do a cameo as himself opposite Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor.

When contacted, Sajid said he had been persuing the "Rambo" and "Rocky" star for over two months and he has finally given his consent to make a brief appearance in the film."Sylvester Stallone will be portraying himself in the movie. For the first time in the history of Indian cinema, the shooting will take place at the Universal Studio (one of Hollywood’s biggest and most well-known studios)", he added.

The film also stars popular Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor. "Akshay plays a Hollywood stuntman in the film. The desi action hero will be seen with the international action icon," he said. The expected budget of the movie, tipped to be one of the costliest films ever made in Bollywood, is Rs 90 crore, said the filmmaker.

It is for the first time that a Hollywood star of such stature has agreed to act in an Indian film. Sajid said, "We have a certain vision for our production house Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. Since Kambakkth Ishq is based in Hollywood .. it made perfect sense to appoint casting agents in Hollywood and cast mainstream Hollywood stars. Kambakkth Ishq is one of our most ambitious ventures to date and we didn’t want to leave any stone unturned."

Katrina Kaif has just returned from Egypt after shooting a song with her favourite co-star, Akshay Kumar, for the keenly awaited Singh Is Kinng.

And while Katrina is delighted with the way the song has shaped up, she is even more charmed by Egypt and its culture."It’s among the most beautiful countries I have visited - the pyramids, the temples and the landscape are absolutely exotic. I even enjoyed the barbecue dinner on a boat on the Nile. We shot in a number of places and I’ve come back with fond memories of my trip."

Ask her about the song she shot, Jee Karda, she smiles, "Wait and watch. It should be on air later this month. We shot at 4am every day to capture the light and it was scorching. To keep cool we would stay in shades and sip fruit juice or mint tea." But her recent tour to the African land almost got into trouble when local police reportedly arrived at the scene and objected to Katrina’s outfit that exposed her bare legs while she was shooting against the backdrop of the great pyramids along with Akki.

Egypt is predominantly a Muslim nation and revealing outfits are not accepted in public places.According to reports director Anees Bazmee, who was determined to shoot at the pyramids, managed to get the matter resolved with the help of others.

Post his break up with Bebo, Shahid is hitting the headlines yet once again. Everyone is talking about it, but no one knows how it all started. Contrary to many believes that it was Shahid who was on a rebound and found solace in Vidya’s arms, it was Vidya who took initiative and got something flowing between them.

It was on the sets of Kismat Konnection in Canada. They had never met each other or interacted before. Upon that, they were supposed to shoot an extra intimate romantic scene. Needless to say, both were nervous and not at ease at all. A birdie from the sets reveals, "Shahid is an introvert and takes time to open up to people. The unit was worried because Vidya and Shahid had never met each other before. Worst it was the first day of the shoot and the scene to be shot was a romantic one."

But then our Vidya is one hell of a girl. She decided that enough is enough and she is going to break the ice between the both.

"Vidya just walked up to Shahid. "Autograph please," she said placing an autograph book before him. The move took Shahid by complete surprise and he broke into laughter. The scenario changed completely. The atmosphere suddenly seemed warm and friendly. And what’s more the romantic scene was okayed in just one take," the source adds.

Vidya confirmed the incident saying, "Shahid and I had not known each other. He stood aloof and so did I. I decided to break the ice and begged for his autograph. An embarrassed Shahid did not know where to look. We have turned good friends since then."

'Sulthan the Warrior' costliest project

The animation film ’Sulthan the Warrior’ featuring superstar Rajnikanth is being made by Soundarya, daughter of Rajni on her Ochre studios in association with Anil Ambani’s Adlabs and Warner Studios.

The film is the first such animation movie ever made in Asia. According to Exim Bank, financiers for the film, the film has touched 60 crore in production expenditure so far.

This is the highest ever so far in the Indian film Industry. The film is expected to do business worth 225 crores. Rajni’s blockbuster movie ’Sivaji ’did business worth 220 crores. Soundarya’s next is a film with hero Ajith in the lead role.

The film will be a sequel to Ajith’s ’Billa’.

Aishwarya Rai, tight schedules

Beauty queen Aishwarya Rai, who was worried how she would manage her tight schedules, is now relieved; she had signed Shankar’s Robot which stars Rajinikanth; she has also signed Mani Ratnam’s bilingual with Abhishek in the Hindi version and Vikram in the Tamil version; earlier, the schedules of these movies clashed. Deepika Padukone Grand Marshal

Deepika Padukone, who stormed Bollywood with her debut film Om Shanti Om last year, is to lead the 28th India Day Parade in New York as Grand Marshal August 17 to celebrate India’s 61st Independence Day.

The parade, organised every year by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), moves down Madison Avenue in Manhattan, culminating at a venue where cultural and entertainment programmes are held.

The parade attracts around 50,000 people, making it the biggest such event outside India. Announcing details of the parade, FIA President Yash Paul Soi said at a kick-off meeting at the Indian consulate in New York that former president A P J Abdul Kalam has also been invited.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was the Grand Marshal last year and Indian American astronaut Sunita Williams the Guest of Honour.

FIA has started campaigning to have Mahatma Gandhi’s statues erected at the United Nations in Manhattan and Liberty State Park in New Jersey. It has written to New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon seeking permissions.

Set up in 1981, FIA is a large, influential umbrella organisation of the Indian American community in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The objective of its annual India Day Parade is to project Indian Americans’ progress and unity with other communities.

Sunil Shetty has been receiving threat calls

It is tough time for Sunil Shetty these days. Sunil has been receiving threat calls from a stuntman named Puran Chauhan from Delhi. Chauhan is physically challenged and is a member of Mumbai stuntsmen union. He was hired to work on Shetty’s production ‘Little Godfather’ and had been paid about 2 lakhs for his services. But, Chauhan who had assured the makers that he would help them in getting permission to shoot on railway premises failed to keep up his promise and so was removed from the job.

It was then that he started calling and blackmailing Shetty. When he used abusive language and threatened to harm his family, Sunil lost his cool, abused him back and then, Chauhan recorded the conversation and began blackmailing him.

Shetty has registered a complaint with three different police stations in Mumbai. On the other hand, Chauhan has also filed a complaint against Shetty in Delhi, alleging that the actor-producer has been threatening and abusing him.Sunil then decided to lie low about the alleged threats only because of his family. He waited until the children’s summer holidays, packed off his entire family for a prolonged vacation until the end of August and then decided to take on the man headlong.

In fact Sunil has given a list of the people who were persuading him to make a compromise with the extortionist to the cops.“I’m no longer losing sleep because the cops are on the guy’s trail and my family is far away and safe. Once the fear of family flies out, there’s nothing to stop from taking on my tormentors,” says Sunil.These days Sunil is shooting for Anant Mahadevan’s ‘Red Alert’ in the jungles.

Sonam Kapoor sweetless birthday cake

Anil Kapoor, known to be one of the slimmest actors Bollywood has ever produced, has now decided to make his daughter slimmer than ever before. He got her a fat-free- sugarless cake on her birthday on Monday.Sonam Kapoor caught on quickly and got seriously worried. "I thought I had slimmed enough. I lost 35 kgs before Saawariya. I’ve been constantly keeping my weight down. But I think Dad knows the other girls are looking very slim these days. It was his way of letting me know that I needed to get even thinner. A strange present on my birthday."

With a string of illnesses in the family suddenly happening all at once, Sonam Kapoor just didn’t feel like celebrating her birthday. "None of us was in the mood to party. Dad did get me a sugar-free cake and I blew out the candles in front of my family. But that’s about it. There were too many illnesses and hospitalizations in the family."

But Dad Anil Kapoor did make a ’weighty’ statement. Sonam has caught on. "I’m going on a diet. I need to get thinner to look comparable with the other girls. Look at Deepika. She’s athletic and slim. I’m not an athlete. But I’m a runner. I love to go on long runs all on my own for miles and miles. That is a sure way to lose weight."

But now with dad’s prodding her into a fat-free awakening Sonam is about to lose more kilos. "I have to. It’s not a vanity. It’s for my sanity. I can’t be happy being healthy when the other girls are frantically losing weight. So thanks to my Dad I’m losing more weight."On her birthday Sonam Saw a film and went to sleep early since I needed to look fresh the next morning to shoot for Dilli 6."

Anil Sharma, the director, is busy hunting for a girl for Salman Khan. The hunt is for acting opposite Salman in his upcoming flick Veer. It is informed that the director has auditioned a lot of new faces to star opposite Salman Khan in Veer recently. In spite of screen testing a bouquet of beaus, the director is still not satisfied. He finds it impossible to frame the beau ideal for the dude.

Earlier, the director was planning to take Bianca Damme, Hollywood action star Jean Claude Van Damme’s daughter, for the role. But, explaining about importing white skin, Anil Sharma had then said, "We are in talks." Later, there were gimmicky words afloat that Katrina’s younger sister Isabella is being considered for the leading role opposite Salman. Isabel also met the meticulous director Anil on a couple of occasions but Anil denied the fluffy words. Katrina Kaif has also chorused Sharma’s claim saying that Isabel is too young to join the film industry as she is yet complete her education.

Veer is a period film that will have Salman playing a Good Samaritan. The film’s shooting is likely to begin in August this year. It’s a period film based in 1800 and has been written by Salman himself. But despite having all the ingredients, the film is missing the leading lady. Then how should the film be cooked! Esha Deol has a loving heart

Despite having a rough and tough family background, Esha Deol has a loving heart. We discovered this when we spotted her donating for Shiksha, an NGO that helps educate children who cannot afford an education. Esha donated a box full of schooling requirements and got it buried underground for the next 100 years. Why? “This is to keep ‘today’ alive after 100 long years”, she explained.

Interestingly, every possible effort the actress has put in to survive in Bollywood - be it the ‘girl next door’ look in movies like Yuva and Just Married, action scenes in Dus and Cash, negative roles like the one in Ankahee or a bikini show for Dhoom - has proved unrewarding. Kareena Kapoor's busy schedule

Actor Kareena Kapoor is busy in Australia, shooting for Mr. & Mrs. Khanna. The girl was at her busiest best when she had to perform for IIFA, too. Kareena’s participation at the IIFA was a coup of sorts considering the fall out between the Bachchans and the Kapoors, after the engagement between Abhishek and Karisma was called off. She used to shoot for Mr & Mrs. Khanna during the day, and then practise for her performance at night!"

The actor who performed to a medley of her songs from Jab We Met and Tashan is enjoying her life and career, and couldn’t be happier or busier! She plans to visit London soon and spend time with beau Saif Ali Khan as he produces his first venture with Deepika Padukone to be directed by Imtiaz Ali.

John and Bipasha cancelled their Bangkok trip

John and Bipasha have cancelled their Bangkok trip for John’s dearest brother Alan’s wedding reception that made the couple cancel the award function in the Thai capital and play the role of perfect hosts.

John’s bother Alan got married to his long time girlfriend, Anca in Romania two weeks back at which Bipasha failed to turn up due to her prior assignments and in consequence of that she had to face John’s annoyance. For the last few weeks, Alan’s wedding has kept John busy. He took the entire responsibility of wedding on his shoulders and was there in Romania with his family in wedding preparations. Saif was not happy with his girl

The Bollywood young couple Saif-kareena who had publicly announced their togetherness at the Lakme Fashion Week last October, sent out all the wrong signals at IIFA. To start with, the duo did not hit Bangkok together, Saif couldn’t be spotted in the audience when Kareena performed on stage, he was not there to cheer her lady when she received the Best Actress Award and Bebo didn’t find him important enough for even a mention in her acknowledgement speech. Instead she said (mark it guys!), “I want to thank three most important people for this award- director Imtiaz Ali, producer Ashtavinayak and…. the most important person, my co-star Shahid Kapoor.”

And not a word about Saif! According to inside sources, Saif was not happy with the skimpy outfit flaunting Kareena’s figure during her performance. He had Manish Malhotra do a rather Indian outfit for her. So, while others like Katrina and Dia Mirza were at their smouldering dress, Kareena’s elaborate dress spoilt the magic for her. Close sources also say that the lack of time together is the culprit for the misunderstanding between the two.

Shamita Shetty in Comedy?

Bollywood actress Shamita Shetty shot for the promotional video of the film, ‘Hari Puttar-A Comedy of Terrors’, with Zain Khanfor. The song was titled as ‘Tutari Baje’ and the shooting was done in a bungalow situated right at the edge of Madh Island sea shore. Shamita, looking hot as usual, was all too luring for a ten year old kid.

In the film, Hari Puttar- A Comedy of Terrors, Zain plays a guy who is fond of Shamita. In the video, it is shown that Shamita walks into Zain’s life, his home and what happens after that.

Shamita and her gang of friends kept troubling, pinching and throwing pillows at Zain Khan. The shot was okayed after some nine takes. Zain got impatient with all the pinching and getting pushed around. Every time the director called out for more animation, Zain was seen exclaiming ‘Hey, ours is not an animation film!’.

This is Shamita’s first promotional video for any film and talking about it, Shamita said, “Yes, I have never shot for a promotional video where I am not acting in the film. Aishwarya Rai under a tighter schedule now

Plans are afoot to bring Aishwarya Rai and Meryl Streep together in an American production of "Chaos", Colin Serreau’s 2002 French movie.Says a source, "They ran the concept with Meryl and Ash and they were game. They need to Americanise the theme because ’Chaos’ was a very French movie. But, yes, in principle Ash is on for this film."

Ash is slated to play a sex worker in the film.Another international project Aishwarya has agreed to is Roland Joffe’s "Singularity" with Brendan Fraser.

Ash says she has asked for the final draft of the script. "Now the time factor has to be worked out. The time they want is devoted to Mani (Ratnam) Sir’s project. New dates have to be worked out. There’re so many projects that I want to do but because of the dates or a delay I can’t. There’re only that number of assignments I can take on. I’ve never done more work than I can do. I never can."

In the meanwhile, Aishwarya gets ready to shoot for Shankar’s "Robot" and Mani Ratnam’s film with Abhishek.

"There has been a little delay in Shankar’s ’Robot’ because of his writer Sujata ’s death. That has delayed ’Robot’ a bit. All kinds of rumours have been floated about the project. The dates situation does get tighter for me because I was supposed to shoot ’Robot’ now and Mani Sir’s film a little later during the year. We just have to work under a tighter schedule now."

Bollywood gorgeous actress Kareena Kapoor recently performed as the Goddess of Bollywood at the IIFA awards in Bangkok. Of course, she also bagged the best actress award for her power house performance in Jab We Met. Kareena also credits Shiamak Davar for her creative act. "Shiamak, who has created the act, has come up with a different color for every theme." Kareena has no regrets about Tashan bombing at the box-office. "My performance has been appreciated. In fact my look and style has started a trend of sorts and I am happy about that." IIFA ramp show in Bangkok

IIFA awards, 2008, was completed yesterday on June 9, amidst much glamour and glitz. June 7, Saturday night in Bangkok, saw leading cine stars Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Ayesha Takia, Zayed Khan and the likes walk the ramp for a charitable event to raise funds for families of workers adversely affected during production of films.

While Kareena did it for Manish Malhotra’s designs, ‘De Taali’ stars, Aftab Shivdasani, Ritesh Deshmukh and Ayesha Takia walked the ramp in the works of designer Vikram Phadnis. The lead pair of the much awaited ‘Love Story 2050’, Priyanka and Harman Baweja flared Rohit Bal’s designs and the cast of the forthcoming ‘Mission Istanbul’ including Zayed Khan and Vivek Oberoi , showcased the look of their soon-to-be-released film on ramp. Ms Thailand Universe Khun Farung Yuthithum was another attraction at the event.

The IIFA fashion extravaganza hosted by director Karan Johar and choreographed by Lubna Adams, also showcased designs by Alta Moda, Mufti and Sabyasachi among others.

Priyanka counselled Kangna

In this cut-throat day and age, Kangna Ranaut can’t forget Priyanka Chopra’s gesture. The two bonded really well and shared a great rapport on the sets of Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion. And that was how, recently, Kangna shared her future plans with Piggy Chops.

“She told Priyanka about how she does not want to do more than one film a year,” reveals a source.

“Priyanka played the perfect counsellor and was responsible for completely changing the latter’s career plans,” the source further adds, “Priyanka counselled Kangna on how her decision to stick to one film a year was a wrong one at this point in her career. She gave her own example, about how she started off when she was a newcomer and worked round the clock. Priyanka also told Kangna that only after doing a slew of films should she decide to take it easy.”

When contacted, Kangna confirms and says, “Yes, it was my idea to work in only one film every year, but thanks to riyanka’s guidance I have changed my decision. I signed a couple of films after she advised me to do so.” Kangna, apparently, has now signed four big banner films in just one week.

Aishwarya Rai as Pakistani prime minister

Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Rai has been approached to essay the role of former Pakistani prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

Sources reveal that Ash is one of the prime contenders for the role.It is reliably learnt that UTV is producing the project.Neelesh Misra, lyricist for films like Jism, Johnny Gaddaar, Jannat will pen the script.

He has also written the screenplay for Sanjay Gupta’s Alibaug. Misra confirms, “I have been offered the project, but haven’t accepted it yet.The producers are contacting the Bhutto family before they go ahead with it.”

A source reveals, “There is a lot of homework to be done on the film. At the moment, talks are in progress with the Pakistani government and other officials to get permission to go ahead with the film.

Shah Rukh Khan will not attend the prestigious IIFA

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan will not attend the prestigious International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards gala starting in Bangkok.

"He had been approached and invited. Unfortunately the period he spent with the Indian Premier League matches disrupted his entire schedule," said Sabbas Joseph, director Wizcraft. "Shah Rukh has just begun his film with Aditya Chopra. So he is busy with that. But we would have been delighted if he could have come," Joseph said. Shah Rukh is a great entertainer in any scenario," said Joseph.

For the last two years Shah Rukh has not attended the IIFA awards, the brand ambassador of which is Amitabh Bachchan. Is his rivalry with Bachchan the reason? Tania Zaetta denied sex allegations

TV and film celebrity Tania Zaetta is likely to sue and demand compensation for unproven troop sex allegations. The 37-year-old actress was accused of having sex with Oz troops during her Middle East tour, however she strongly denied the allegations. Zaetta has decided to take legal action after the Defence Department admitted it broke its own privacy regulations by naming her in a high-level briefing document to Defence Minister Joel Fitzgibbon.

In an interview to Nine Network’s A Current Affair, Zaetta said that she has briefed lawyers and believed she was owed an apology from the department. "How does a supposed document ... that I don’t know about get leaked in the first place - that’s a little bit concerning about the security of the country," News.com.au quoted her as saying. "It’s complete made-up lies. I feel I am owed an apology," she added.

When asked if she had been alone with any soldiers during the 17-day tour, Zaetta said: "You were never alone with any soldiers - you were in full view of everybody else all the time."

According to the Daily Telegraph, the briefing document had named Zaetta as the subject of an unproven allegation - made by rock singer Angry Anderson - that she had sex with Special Forces troops at the Australian base of Tarin Kowt in Afghanistan. However, the former ’Who Dares Wins’ host supports Anderson.

"I asked him and I believed him when he said no. He wasn’t sure where it came from," said Zaetta. Defence has confirmed that an investigation into the claims is under way and yesterday "apologised unreservedly" to Zaetta for disclosing the claims.

Aishwarya, Abhishek buy home in Dubai

Bollywood’s star couple Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have purchased a house in Dubai, becoming the latest celebrities from India’s tinsel town to acquire property in the gulf island.

Having bought a place in Sanctuary Falls -- a 96-villa double-gated community home -- the actors also attended a "Residents Party" for owners in Jumeirah Golf Estates’s this week, a gulf daily reported.

While no details were divulged on the couple’s new home, it is expected to be ready in the first quarter of 2010, Gulf News said. According to the developers, the price of the villas ranges from AED 15 million to AED 35 million (1 AED=0.272 USD)

"Dubai is special to us not just as a place where we enjoy great warmth and generosity in terms of love from the people, but it’s become a remarkable place and one that is so close to home for us," Abhishek said. "I’m always excited, I’ve never been nervous before (the release of) a film. It’s been a great experience and I’m looking forward to sharing it with the audiences", said the former Miss World.

However, the two were yet to watch the film, they said. Asked if they planned to move to the emirate, Abhishek said relocating "in the real sense" was not on the cards, as the family lived and worked in Mumbai.

However Aishwarya said they were looking forward to spend more time in the island. "It’s so close to Mumbai, so we’ll probably be spending a lot more weekends here," she was quoted as saying by Gulf News.

Deepika Padukone is the latest to join these marquee names. Aspire Real Estate, a Dubai-based developer, has signed up the actress as its brand ambassador. "We are targeting India, and Deepika will add to our brand equity," said an Aspire spokesperson.

Sternon Real Estate, also of Dubai, has Mandira Bedi, TV anchor and actress, as brand ambassador for Magic Hills Residences, a project aimed at non-resident Indians on the Mumbai-Pune Highway.

Interestingly, the stars themselves seem to be falling for these campaigns, buying prime properties in Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar has bought a Rs.350 million property in the elite suburb Bandra, Shah Rukh himself is reported to have shelled out Rs.560 million for an office space in Khar, while actor-politician Vinod Khanna has bought a 2,500 sq ft apartment at Malabar Hill for Rs.350 million.

There are many who aver that stars are being signed up more in an attempt to build brands than to propel sales.

Ms.Jayalalithaa in Dasavatharam

A day can never be complete without fascinating news surfacing about the much expected Kamal Hassan starrer ’Dasavatharam’. The latest however has the potential to wake a man in deep slumber into wide eyed fascination. Is it really true? For all we know, it could very well be.

Kamal Hassan and former Tamilnadu Chief Minister Ms.Jayalalithaa might very well share screen space probably for the very second time.

As we all know there is a seven minute Tsunami sequence in this flick that travels back in time and forth. The Tsunami that wrecked havoc in Tamilnadu was a major catastrophe that made the then Ms.Jayalalithaa government swing into action for relief. This incident features in the film and toeing the lines of Kamal’s earlier film ’Indian’ where he actually meets up with Netaji Subash Chandra Bose and Tom Hanks sharing screen space with the American president of the sixties John F. Kennedy in the film ’Forrest Gump’.

Such scenes though visually manipulated add authenticity to the story line. Keeping up with this logic and given the fact that ’Dasavatharam’ has a team that has the potential to think big and wild, it sure is very possible that Kamal Hassan and Ms.Jayalalithaa would be seen together in the film.

Neha Uberoi's dad stays away from her flim premiere

It was supposed to be a dream day for Neha Uberoi. But the fun of her debut Bollywood film "Woodstock Villa" premiering on the same day as her 23rd birthday was somewhat spoilt by her father himself staying away from it.

The reason was the ongoing war between the film’s producer Sanjay Gupta and actor Sanjay Dutt who has launched his own production house. Gupta, incidentally, is Neha’s uncle.Obviously no one even remotely associated with Dutt’s production house showed up at the premiere Thursday night.

Neha’s father Dharam Uberoi, who used to work for Gupta’s White Feather and is now closely associated with Dutt, stayed away from the premiere. The film, released Friday, co-stars Sikandar Kher."There was no question of attending the premiere even if it was my daughter’s big day. I’ve my entire life to devote to her happiness and career. Yes, I regret I couldn’t be there for her. But I’ve moved on. I wish Mr Gupta all the best in life," Uberoi told..

Neha, confused but excited, tried to put up a brave face."I don’t even want to think about these things. I just want to concentrate on my premiere night and my career. As far as ’Woodstock Villa’ is concerned I’ve no complaints."I got a launch any newcomer would die for. I play a kidnapped wife in my very first film. And I’m happy for the unconventional launch. I don’t think the audience is interested in a new girl and boy holding hands and running across pristine meadows in slow motion.

"Not that my launch is entirely unconventional. I’ve four songs in ’Woodstock Villa’. And I’ve my father and Sanjay Dutt’s expertise in the business to guide me. So no regrets at all," Neha said.Not even about the fact that her rather-attractive voice was dubbed in her debut film?

And even though she presently shoots in Melbourne during the days, she is literally burning the midnight oil by practicing for her dance performance for the upcoming IIFA at night.At the IIFA weekend in Bangkok from June 6-8, Kareena will be dancing to a medley of songs from her films like Jab We Met and Tashan .

Kareena, who’s never been known to take her stage performances seriously, says from now on she will prepare dedicatedly for stage dances.

Speaking about her busy diary, Kareena says she will be away from her home for three months, something she hasn’t done in the past. But she would still manage to take out time for her beau - Saif Ali Khan, who will be shooting in London for his first home production with actress Deepika Padukone .

Kareena will be flying to London in mid-June to be with Saif for at least a week.Apart from Bollywood and love, Kareena also has nine product endorsements for which she is required to shoot throughout the year at regular intervals.

Priyanka Chopra tells her relationship with Harman

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra recently, explained about her relationship with Harman Baweja.

“It’s definitely a lovely relationship!” said the lass. When quizzed about her reluctance in admitting her relationship with Harman in public, she laughed and said, “But, I am talking about him right now!”

Priyanka said that ever since her return from Miami, she has been so busy with shooting that she did not have the time to go out at all. Harman’s kitty is also full and he is shooting three films back-to-back. How does she react to Harman being constantly compared with Hrithik? Reportedly, she was very irritated at comparison. Priyanka denied the story and said, “I think every actor is compared with someone or the other. When Hrithik made his debut, he was compared to Shah Rukh Khan while SRK himself was compared to Dilip Kumar. We have to accept it and move on. Eventually, we all make our own space. I’m sure Harman will as well.”
