Kajol will be honoured by Karamveer Puruskar award
Bollywood actress Kajol is to be awarded for the effort she has made to help educate underprivileged children.
She is among few actresses who have tried to give back to society. And for this effort, Kajol will be honoured by ICONGO, a confederation of NGOs and Khemka Foundation, with a Karamveer Puruskar award.
The award, to be given away on Wednesday, recognises individuals who have been pivotal in leading change beyond their profession by being committed to social issues.
"I believe that social commitment is as important as our professional and personal commitment. It is indeed an honour to have been selected for this award. I will keep doing my bit and giving back to society the best in my capacity,” said Kajol in a press release.
Apart from being goodwill ambassador and patron of the Britain-based Loomba Trust - a charity devoted to educating widows’ children, particularly in India, Kajol also works with an NGO called Shiksha.
Kajol was last seen in hubby Ajay Devgan’s self-directed U Me Aur Hum . She would now work opposite Shahrukh Khan in Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan .

SRK and Gauri’s big party!
The buzz is that King Khan and his wife Gauri held a lavish party at the Billion Dollar hotel in Dubai over the weekend.According to a source, “After the launch party of Atlantis, The Palm in Dubai, hosted by international hotelier, Sol Kerzner (Chairman- Kerzner International) and Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, SRK and Gauri hosted a party at their Atlantis Bridge Suite (costs 14,000 pound a night).”
It adds, “At the after-launch party, SRK and Gauri played host to some of Hollywood’s biggest names like Robert De Niro, Gerard Butler, Mischa Barton, Mary-Kate Olsen, Kylie Minogue, Charlize Theron, Lindsay Lohan, Wesley Snipes, tycoon Richard Branson and some of SRK’s close friends from B-Town like Hrithik and Sussanne Roshan, Arjun and Mehr Rampal and Farhan Akhtar. The rocking party went on till the wee hours of the morning.”
There were other guests as well like supermodels Agyness Deyn, Petra Nemcova, Yasmin Le Bon, musicians Janet Jackson, Lily Allen and Shirley Bassey, sports legends like Michael Jordan and Boris Becker were present.
There sure were plenty of biggies at the party!
Shah Rukh says that the party only ended by 7 am and they had a great time. He also talked about his interactions with Wesley Snipes, Gerard Butler, Lindsay Lohan and singer Kylie Minogue and found all of them were so sweet, loving and cool.
Well the King and his lady are indeed having the time of their lives!

Aishwarya and Abhishek not comfortable with each other
Aishwarya and Abhishek starred in many films together but still Abhi gets disturbed with wife’s present. It was clearly noticed on the set of Dilli 6 when he was unable to perform a simple stunt scene and became nervous looking at Ash. She without informing Abhi suddenly dropped on the set of Dilli 6.
From that incident, the cast and the crew came to know that the couple is not comfortable with each other. The stunt scene was nothing tough for anyone who had starred in action flick like Drona. Abhishek was not able to perform that simple stunt due to the presence of his dearest wife.
Dilli 6 is a Rakesh Omprakash Mehra’s film starring Abhishek Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor. The other casts of the flick are Om Puri, Atul Kulkarni, Divya Dutta, Rishi Kapoor and Tanvi Azmi. The film is based on the life of the director Rakesh Omprakash Mehra how he spend his years growing up in the old Delhi neighborhood of Chandini Chowk. The film is slated for February 13, 2009 release.

Shahrukh Khan's fan was arrested by BSF
In the month of September a 15 year boy named Nasir Sultan was arrested by the Border Security Force (BSF) of India.Nasir’s crime was that he was from Pakistan and had crossed the Indian border illegally.
Subsequently he was put up in the juvenile jail at the Faridkot town in Punjab.The reason that propelled him to do the daring act was just a burning desire to see his favourite actor Bollywood star Shahrukh Khan and also participate in a TV reality singing contest.
Saying that he will come back in the evening, he had left his house on the morning of Auguest 14. Only after he landed up in the Jail, he called his parents to inform them of his condition.
Soon Ansar Burney, a human rights activist of Pakistan came to India to seek the release of the teenager who got into a quagmire due to his obsession with the Indian film star and not because he committed any unforgivable offence.A petition was also filed in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh in November requesting to let Nasir return to his home.The young guy is a student of class 10 and is an inhabitant of a place named Dir in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan.
After the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) gave their clearance to release Nasir, he has been handed over to the concerned officials of Pakistan today morning at 11 a.m.

Sada Follows Asin's foot steps
Among the south girls making their debut in Bollywood, the spotlight has been on Asin and her Ghajani. The way the media has been going ga-ga over her has given the impression that she is going to be the next big star in Mumbai’s tinsel town.
But, before Asin makes a splash on Christmas day, the soft-spoken Sada, a one-time hot heroine of Kollywood who has acted in super hits like Jayam and Anniyan, will be seen making her debut in Bollywood. Actually, she was seen in the Hindi dubbing of Shankar’s film Aparachit, through which she got all the offers in Hindi. Sada’s first Hindi release has been titled Khallballi - Fun Unlimited, which will be releasing next Friday.
She is paired with Nikhil Dwivedi in this comedy caper. Says Sada, a Maharashtrian Muslim girl, “Khallballi is a laugh riot, and I’m really happy that I got to debut in a film which has 32 comedians including Chunkey Pandey, Johnny Lever and Rajpal Yadav. The music of the film by Sajid-Wajid is a chartbuster. Seeing the promos of the film, I have got so many offers coming my way.”
The director of the film Ajay Chandok, in a television interview, has said, “Sada has a face that stands out in a crowd and she has a very glamorous and pivotal role in the film.” Is Sada taking the glam route in Bollywood while in the south, she had a demure and soft image?
Says Sada, “I think I look glamorous in films like Anniyan and Priyamana Sakhi. Of course, in Bollywood, the heroine has to look more glamorous. My friends tell me that I look really smashing in the promos of Khallballi.” Meanwhile, she has three more Hindi films releasing in the next six months.

Konkona Sen Sharma plays the lesbian act
Seems homosexuality is the code of the season! After ‘Dostana’, it is Rohan Sippy’s ‘The Preisdent is Coming’ which brings forth this subject with Konkona Sen Sharma playing the lesbian in the film.
The film is directed by Kunaal Roy Kapur. In fact, Kunaal has directed a play with the same name. The movie is written by Anubhav Pal and stars actors like Shernaz Paul and Ira Dubey. The film brings forth a new genre called mockumentary as it is made in a documentary style with satirical humour.
The movie moves around six wacky people, participating in a contest in which the winner will get a chance to shake hands with President George Bush. Konkona is one of them.

It means that the movie will be distributed without any prints and will be shown on prime time with the help of wide Digital platform of 2K Digital Screens all over India. The transportation cost of prints in that way will be saved.

What happened to Mani Ratnam's Ravana ?
Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai have completed the Athirapally- Malayatoor forest schedule of Mani Ratnam’s Ravana and have left for Mumbai.
Now Mani is shooting the Tamil version of the film with Vikram, Prabhu, Karthik, Pritviraj, Priyamani and Ranjitha.
After the first schedule in the forests of Kerala is complete by November end, Mani was planning to shoot in the Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the best places to see the Tigers in the wild.
But at the moment it looks bleak whether Mani will be given permission by the BJP run state government to shoot in the forests of MP, especially at a time when assembly elections are due in the state.
According to our sources in Bhopal, the BJP government has asked him to submit a script of the film as it is based on the Ramayan!
Meanwhile hush-hush plans are afoot by the unit to shoot in Kandy and surrounding forest areas in Sri Lanka where Ravana lived as per the Ramayan. Mani had shot his Kannathil Muthamittal, there a few years back. The Sri Lankan government it seems has promised that they will roll out the red carpet as Aishwarya Rai is very popular there.
But will Mani Ratnam risk being targeted by his colleagues in Kollywood? Please note Mani did not take part in the controversial solidarity meeting organized by the Tamil film directors at Rameswaram in support of "Tamils facing genocide in Sri Lanka."
And political parties in Tamilnadu will not like Mani to shoot in Sri Lanka, after accepting the hospitality of the Rajpakse government.

Kareena had problem over Johnny Depp
Kareena Kapoor had turned down a role opposite noted Hollywood actor Johnny Depp because of date problems. However, we can now reveal that’s dates were not the reason behind this.Says a source, “Three years ago, Gurinder Chadda (director of this new film) wanted Kareena for Bride & Prejudice. Kareena naturally presumed it was the lead. She was shocked to know the director actually wanted her for Aishwarya’s youngest sister’s part which finally went to Piya Rai Choudhary. Bebo was irked at being offered the fourth lead and vowed never to work with her again. Now when a new Gurinder Chadha film was offered to Kareena she quickly said no without hesitation.”Kareena has confirmed this news, saying, “Who offers a role is not important. What is being offered is important. I’m really not that enthused by the idea of going international unless it’s something really big. I don’t even know if Gurinder’s offer was with Johnny Depp. I was just not interested.”

Priyanka in ‘Verve’ Dostana speical
With her ‘Fashion’ not being able to do wonders at the box-office, Priyanka Chopra has pinned all her hopes on her forthcoming ‘Dostana’ and sure, the lady is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to the film’s promotion. In tune with her promotional campaign for the film, Priyanka appears on the cover of the latest edition of the fashion magazine ‘Verve’ which has named this issue as ‘Dostana special’. Well, it may be known here that ‘Dostana’ is indeed special for the Verve team as Priyanka plays a staff of ‘Verve’ magazine in the film.
The issue includes a fashion shoot on the film’s Mumbai sets, the interpretation of Dostana’s working woman executive through the lens of the skirt suit. If that was not enough, there is also a feature titled ‘Miami Spice’, which has the film’s director Tarun Mansukhani offering some exclusive, behind-the-scenes dope from the sun-kissed beaches of Miami, where much of the film was shot.
The issue also has Priybanka speak about her passions and relationships. She talks about her love for music and says that it ‘is the one thing I find time for, besides my family’. She also recalls the time when she had to shuffle between her hectic shoots and her ailing father. Priyanka confesses that she was a total bully when it came to her brother Siddharth. An issue worth investing in, sure enough!

In a song in Dostana , actress Shilpa Shetty had to embrace John Abraham . But he kept slipping out of her grip.The song, ‘Shut Up and Bounce’, was being shot in Miami in the summers and the sun was so strong that all the actors had to put on sunblock cream to avoid getting the tan.On the day Shilpa had to shoot with John on a beach, he had put on so much of cream that his skin became slippery. John plays a photographer in the movie and the scene required John to shoot Shilpa and she puts her arms around him.Now, that’s where the trouble lied. When Shilpa tried to embrace John, her hands slipped off his body. At one instance, Shilpa slipped and almost fell down to her knees while trying to embrace John. His over-oiled body just kept slipping out of her grasp.Eventually, John had to wipe off some of the cream to let Shilpa get a grip of his hot bod.The actress thinks John looks so hot in the song that she won’t be surprised if people watch him more than her.Now, that’s true only for girls. As for guys, we know where their eyes would be riveted.
